CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 101 currently listed for sale near Ajax, ON and an average price of $24,023 CAD, 26.7% of 2017 Porsche Macans for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Porsche Macan 4.86 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2017 Porsche Macan stands out because it brings Porsche’s sports-car character into a compact SUV body. It was designed with a sportier brief than most compact SUVs, and it is smaller and nimbler than the Cayenne. All models have all-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK automatic transmission, which helps give it the quick, engaging feel that makes the Macan one of the best-driving vehicles in its class.
For 2017, the range expanded beyond the original Macan S and Macan Turbo with two new variants. The base model used a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower, while the Macan GTS sat between the S and Turbo with a 360-horsepower version of the 3.0-litre V6. That mix gives buyers a choice between a more accessible entry point and stronger performance, while still keeping the Macan’s premium, driver-focused personality intact.
The 2017 Macan also benefits from a strong standard-equipment list for its age, including electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate. Its high-quality interior and good reliability record add to its appeal, and owners often praise its power, handling, and overall performance. The main trade-offs are limited rear-seat space, a cabin that can feel dated compared with some rivals, and fuel economy that worsens as performance rises.

It's a fantastic car. It's practical to use, unlike a sports car, exceptionally comfortable for long trips, and when you push the go pedal down, things get exciting quickly.

The current average of $24,561 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,108 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be set with the current softer pricing in mind rather than last year's higher average. Even so, the Macan’s strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.42% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2017 Macan is the better choice if you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and market availability in this range. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 stands out as a balanced pick for shoppers who want Porsche character without paying peak-market pricing.
