That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar immediately. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell, especially for shoppers who want a compact car with a sporty reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.24% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a used compact car with a sporty personality, good owner satisfaction, and pricing that has eased a bit. If your priority is value, this year looks especially worth considering. If you are more price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best condition and asking price for your budget.
