Generally — the 2017 Kia Optima earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owner feedback also points to a dependable everyday experience, with many drivers describing the car as a trouble-free choice that they can count on for comfortable commuting and strong fuel economy. Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Optima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 51 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,290 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Optima's resale value?

The current average of $9,290 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,018 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Optima has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. If prices stay near this level, future resale gains may be limited unless market demand strengthens. A well-kept example with documented maintenance should still be easier to move than one with a patchy history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Optima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a sensible pick if you want a lower entry price and a model year that owners generally like. If you’re price-sensitive, this year deserves a close look because the market has softened and there are still some good deals to be found. If you want to compare across nearby years, focus on condition, service history, and asking price rather than year alone.
