Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe XL?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully and wait for the right price.

• Inventory: There are 102 listings available.

What is the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe XL's resale value?

The current average of $12,936 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,309 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model year has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilises. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. Demand can also stay healthier for vehicles that earn strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2017 is a sensible choice if you want a used Santa Fe XL with a strong owner satisfaction signal and a softer price environment than a year ago. If your priority is value, this model year deserves a close look; if you're especially price-sensitive, compare it against nearby years and focus on the listings that land near the low end of the range.
