How much does the 2017 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 15.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 309 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, spacious interior, and impressive features, and many also like its power and handling, especially with the EcoBoost engine. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want a roomy, family-friendly midsize SUV with a more engaging feel than many rivals. With 26.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable in day-to-day use, with praise centred on its smooth ride and strong overall ownership experience. That said, the broader model-year context suggests you should still inspect maintenance history closely, since long-term ownership risk can vary on used examples depending on how well they were cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be choosy without waiting forever.

• Deal availability: 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 309 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.25% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,023 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $16,029 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,913 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays subdued. The current range suggests the model is still moving, but not at the stronger values seen a year ago. If you plan to resell later, buying closer to the low end of the range gives you more room to absorb depreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a good choice if you want a roomy, well-equipped midsize SUV and you value current market softness. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 stands out as the better-balanced pick when you want strong owner satisfaction and a decent pool of listings to shop from.
