There are 162 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW X1 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 BMW X1 earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its excellent driving experience, luxurious features, compact size, fuel efficiency, performance, and interior quality. The market also shows 24.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 BMW X1 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to dependable day-to-day use and confidence in the ownership experience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that comfort and refinement concerns may matter more as the vehicle ages, so a careful test drive and inspection are worthwhile.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW X1?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 162 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.26% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,012 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW X1's resale value?

The current average of $14,014 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,799 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the vehicle more attractive to buyers today but may limit upside for a future seller. If you buy near the current average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers looking for a premium compact SUV at a lower entry price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X1 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a sensible choice if you want a well-liked X1 with a softer used-market price and enough inventory to compare options. If you're especially price-sensitive, you can also look at nearby years to see whether a similar example offers a better asking price or condition for your budget.
