Is the 2017 Audi Q5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that first-generation Q5s can bring higher ownership costs if prior maintenance has been inconsistent.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q5?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 308 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.98% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,551 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi Q5's resale value?

The current average of $14,551 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,320 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should focus on well-kept examples with strong service history and desirable equipment. A clean, well-maintained Q5 should still appeal to shoppers looking for a premium compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a polished cabin.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $19,273 CAD, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $14,551 CAD average.
• It brings a full redesign with more room, newer technology, and improved driving dynamics.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the lower purchase price and a well-equipped luxury SUV with strong owner approval. Consider the 2018 if you’re willing to pay more for a redesigned model with broader upgrades and a more modern feel.
