Yes — it earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, smooth ride, and value for money, and they also describe it as comfortable with a more luxurious feel than you might expect at this price. What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CE is the most basic version, while the LE adds a touchscreen, heated front seats, remote keyless entry, a rearview camera, and premium fabric. The S brings a more distinctive look with a unique grille, fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, available 17-inch alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-litre inline four-cylinder. The CE can be paired with a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic, while the LE and LE Eco use a CVT. The S comes standard with a six-speed manual, with a CVT and paddle shifters available.
• Safety package: Every model gets the Star Safety System, which includes eight airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, and antilock brakes. A backup camera is included on touchscreen-equipped models, but advanced driver aids are not offered.

Which 2016 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2016 Toyota Corolla is offered in 4 trim levels: CE, LE, LE Eco, and S.

Here's the short version:

• CE: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost Corolla, but it is also the most basic. It makes sense if your priority is simple transportation and you do not need the touchscreen or extra comfort features found higher up.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the touchscreen, heated front seats, remote keyless entry, a rearview camera, and premium fabric without pushing into the S trim’s higher price. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• LE Eco: Choose this if fuel efficiency is your top priority. It uses the same 1.8-litre engine with efficiency-focused tuning and standard automatic climate control.
• S: Pick this if you want the sportier appearance and extra equipment, including the unique grille, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and available 17-inch alloy wheels. It is the most style-focused choice in the lineup.

The safety package is standard across the range, but the backup camera is tied to touchscreen-equipped models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Corolla?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent value.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 253 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.06% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,263 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $14,637 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,417 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Corolla is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later. The model’s value story is still supported by its reputation for efficiency and practicality, which helps keep demand steady. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2016 Toyota Corolla earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2016 Toyota Corolla features the Star Safety System, which includes eight standard airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, and more. Models equipped with the touchscreen also have an integrated backup camera. The main caveat is that it lacks several advanced driver-assistance features that were becoming common in the segment, including forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It pairs strong value with a practical, fuel-efficient small-car formula.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,481 CAD, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,637 CAD average.
• It is a sensible, reliable compact car with a bit of style.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around value proposition, the 2016 is the better pick because it balances price, efficiency, and owner satisfaction well. If your main goal is to spend less up front, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the Corolla’s core strengths.
