That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays subdued. If you plan to sell later, buying well below the current average matters more than usual. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru BRZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current value and owner satisfaction, the 2016 is a sensible primary choice. If you're especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on listings at the lower end of the range and compare them carefully against nearby model years before you commit.
