Is the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which lines up with its practical appeal as a compact SUV with third-row seating, a more conventional shape, and useful flexibility for school carpools and short trips. It also offers available all-wheel drive and a split tailgate, so you get everyday versatility without a flashy design. 23.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Outlander’s reliability picture is mixed in the sense that its overview highlights recall history as something used buyers should keep in mind, alongside a base four-cylinder engine that can feel underpowered and noisy. Even so, the model’s practical layout and straightforward cabin may still suit you if you value utility over refinement. For used ownership, the main long-term risk is that you should be prepared to inspect maintenance history carefully and budget for a vehicle that may not feel as polished as some rivals.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 23.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,967 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $11,144 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,144 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Outlander easier to buy now but less rewarding if you plan to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing trend means you may need to price competitively to attract attention. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help you limit depreciation if you buy carefully today.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 23.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Outlander makes sense if you want a practical compact SUV with third-row flexibility and you like the sharper styling of the refreshed generation. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better fit when you want a balance of value, utility, and a more distinctive look.
