The current average of $9,599 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,079 CAD.

That softer pricing can be helpful if you're buying now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. For a seller, the current trend suggests you may need to price competitively to attract attention. Strong owner satisfaction can still help support demand when it's time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Optima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 18.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Kia Optima makes sense if you want a well-liked used sedan with softer pricing and enough deal activity to shop carefully. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples rather than the newest one available.
