Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $10,231 CAD, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,676 CAD average.
• It brings a sharper redesign with more technology and a more polished feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the better value and are focused on comfort, efficiency, and everyday practicality. If you can stretch your budget for a newer-feeling cabin and more advanced tech, the 2017 is the stronger upgrade; if price matters most, the 2016 remains the smarter buy.
