The 2016 Hyundai Elantra stands out as a practical compact car that helped Hyundai move well beyond its bargain-basement roots. By this generation, the Elantra had become a more polished and upscale-looking sedan, with a calmer design than the more polarising styling that came before it. It also offered a nicer interior than earlier versions, along with modern infotainment and safety features, which made it feel more complete than a basic commuter car.
For 2016, most Elantras used a 147-horsepower 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with either a six-speed manual or a conventional automatic transmission. That setup was not especially exciting, but it delivered acceptable performance and good fuel economy, and the model line also included a punchier 1.6-litre turbocharged engine in some applications. The sixth-generation Elantra sedan and GT also earned “Top Safety Pick” or “Top Safety Pick+” designations from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety every year they were on sale, which adds to its appeal for buyers who value peace of mind.
There are a few trade-offs, though. The sixth-generation Elantra was one of the models at the heart of Hyundai’s theft vulnerability problem, and its styling was not universally loved. Even so, it remains appealing as an affordable used car because it combines comfort, strong fuel economy, and a good feature set with a reputation for being a sensible everyday choice.

We loved our Elantra! Great ride, great on gas and it was put to the ULTIMATE TEST when during a downpour a tractor trailer flew by and swerved into our lane causing us to hydroplane across 3 lanes then down an embankment where we flipped on our side and finally came to a stop when we hit a tree line. Climbed out the top through the passenger window and walked away with only a few bumps and bruises. The rescuers, police and tow truck guys all said wow, that car saved your lives!

I love the Hyndai Elantra. It is a very solid, good steering, roomy, reliable and sporty looking vehicle. I believe it is comparable to a Honda Civic or Chevy Cruze.

I bought the 2016 GL model late 2015 I have been very impressed - a wider body than the Ford Focus i owned, great features, cruise even with a Manual, AC electric windows and locks, blutooth, very comfortable and smooth quiet engine. very sharp looking and excellent mileage. my vehicle now has 170,000 kms and runs like new, no issues mechanically at all just oil changes and filters and brakes which I did myself - parts very easy to obtain online line rotors etc.

Very comfortable and reliable vehicle, great miles x gal, good price, the only defect so far is that , doesnt come with spare tire, or jack,
