CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Honda CR-V
Summary
With 450 currently listed for sale and an average price of $15,568 CAD, 26.7% of 2016 Honda CR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Honda CR-V 4.53 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Honda CR-V stands out as a practical, well-rounded compact crossover that leans heavily on the qualities buyers tend to value most: reliability, comfort, and everyday usefulness. It offers a roomy cabin and cargo area, and the fourth-generation CR-V brought more interior space for cargo and up to five passengers while keeping the model’s reputation for solid long-term dependability. For shoppers who want a used SUV that is easy to live with and built for daily duties, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
This generation also gained meaningful updates over time. For 2015, the engine was re-engineered for cleaner emissions and the conventional automatic transmission gave way to a continuously variable transmission, which improved fuel economy and resulted in a 1 to 2 L/100 km drop in most measurements. The 2015-2016 Touring also added advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Even so, the CR-V is not especially exciting to drive, and base models are fairly basic, so its strengths are more about competence than flair.
For buyers, that makes the 2016 Honda CR-V appealing as a sensible, low-stress choice with a strong reliability record and useful features. It is especially attractive if you want a vehicle that balances comfort and practicality without demanding much compromise. The trade-off is that it is not the most engaging option on the road, and some owners note blind spots and a less smooth ride, but those drawbacks do little to diminish its reputation as a dependable, versatile used crossover.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

The bottom line:
The 2016 is the better all-around pick if you want a well-liked, practical compact crossover with solid market support. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in strong condition and priced below the current average.
