What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $21,116 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,250 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you buy at the right price now, though, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The fact that there are 310 listings also means buyers have options, which can keep upward pressure on resale values in better-equipped or cleaner examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want a used Sierra 1500 with a strong mix of comfort, features, and value, especially if you can find one priced near the lower end of the range. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 stands out as a balanced choice for shoppers who want a premium-feeling full-size truck without stretching too far.
