Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 22.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 266 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.03% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,762 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $15,260 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,775 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Explorer easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller if values keep easing. If you plan to resell later, the current trend means your best protection is buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition. A lower entry price can help offset some depreciation, especially if you choose a clean example with good service records.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.26/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 22.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.26/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a good pick if you want a roomy, comfortable, family-oriented SUV and you value a lower current price more than chasing the newest updates. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2016 can make sense as a value play; if you want to compare across nearby years, focus on whichever example gives you the best combination of condition, history, and asking price.
