Is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for a used family crossover. The 2016 Chevrolet Traverse stands out as a very large crossover built for families who want serious space without moving to a body-on-frame SUV, and it offers a huge interior, a roomy third row, and minivan-like cargo capacity when the seats are folded. It is also easy to drive and use, with intuitive technology and a comfortable suspension that smooths out most road imperfections, which makes it especially appealing if you value space per dollar. 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Chevrolet Traverse’s reliability record is a weak point, with a reputation for electrical and power steering issues, along with engine and transmission trouble. Even so, its practical packaging and roomy cabin can still make it worthwhile if you inspect carefully and prioritise condition over badge prestige. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a vehicle that needs more attention than its low purchase price might suggest.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 57 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,434 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $10,589 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,154 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. The Traverse’s value proposition is still tied to its space and practicality, so well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. If you buy carefully now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want maximum space for the money and you find a clean example at a strong price. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping the surrounding model years as well, but the 2016 remains a sensible pick when value and cabin room matter most.
