Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, the array of features, and the good value for money, while the ride comfort and remote start also come up as recurring positives. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a practical compact SUV with a roomy cabin and everyday versatility. The market also shows 22.2% of listings as good or great deals, which adds some shopping flexibility.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a vehicle that many people have found dependable in day-to-day use, with comfort and confidence in tough conditions standing out. At the same time, the model’s reputation is shaped by serious engine concerns, so reliability depends heavily on maintenance history and condition. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk can be manageable only if you choose carefully and verify the vehicle has been well cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right example.

• Deal availability: 22.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 144 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,949 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $10,012 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,451 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if prices continue to ease. If you buy now, your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service records, especially given the model’s mixed reputation. Well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones, but you should still expect resale value to be influenced by the broader price trend.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 22.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better path if you want a roomy, well-equipped compact SUV and you find a clean example with solid maintenance records. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may also be worth comparing, but the 2016 stands out when you want a balance of value, comfort, and available inventory.
