What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds a standard navigation system and 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels, while the base LX is more basic. Safety equipment also varies by trim, so it’s worth checking exactly which driver-assistance features are fitted.
• Powertrain: You get a direct-injected 2.4-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. The engine is described as smooth and peppy, and the CVT is tuned to filter drone well.
• Safety package: Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. Some features are available only on higher trims, so verify what’s standard on the vehicle you’re considering.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 7-inch touchscreen and includes Bluetooth with audio streaming, text-messaging support, a USB port, an auxiliary audio input jack, and HondaLink smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive recorded 9.5 L/100 km, compared with a Natural Resources Canada combined rating of 8.2 L/100 km.

Which 2015 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2015 Honda CR-V is offered in 2 trim levels: LX and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CR-V formula without the extra luxury and convenience upgrades. It suits you if you want the most affordable way into the model and are comfortable with a simpler equipment list.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete version of the CR-V, because it adds navigation, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the fullest safety and convenience content described here. It’s the one to target if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

The safety package includes LaneWatch, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking, but some of those features are not universal across the range, so confirm the exact equipment on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some patience and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 285 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,735 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $15,031 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,607 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can expect in the near term. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the previous average. The current range also shows that clean, fairly priced examples still have room to hold attention from shoppers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2015 Honda CR-V earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns four-star ratings in rollover resistance and front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. SmartVent airbags are also part of the package, and HondaLink can provide automatic collision notification if you opt in.

One caveat is that LaneWatch is described as complicated and counter-intuitive, and the lane-departure warning system is called intrusive. If you value simple, intuitive driver-assistance tech, that’s worth keeping in mind when you test-drive one.

Should I buy a 2015 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 update brought revised styling, a more fuel-efficient engine, and added safety and convenience features, making it a stronger all-around pick than the previous year.

The bottom line: If you want the most polished version of this generation’s CR-V, the 2015 model is the one to focus on because it adds meaningful updates without losing the model’s core strengths. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2015 is the better target when you want the best mix of features, satisfaction, and market value.
