What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds a standard navigation system and 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels, while the base LX is more basic. The safety content also shows that the Touring test vehicle had all available safety features, so lower trims may leave out some of the advanced driver-assistance equipment.
• Powertrain: The 2015 CR-V uses a direct-injected 2.4-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. The expert notes that it delivers smooth, peppy performance and that the CVT does a good job of keeping things quiet and responsive.
• Safety package: Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. The Touring test vehicle had all available safety features, so you should confirm exactly which systems are fitted on the trim you are considering.
• Infotainment: The CR-V uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming, text-messaging support, a USB port, an auxiliary audio input jack, and HondaLink smartphone integration. The system is easy to pair and use, but the physical controls are described as fussy.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert recorded 9.5 L/100 km in highway driving and notes a Natural Resources Canada combined rating of 8.2 L/100 km.

Which 2015 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2015 Honda CR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX AWD, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it is the trim to choose if you want the lowest-cost way into the CR-V. It is also the most basic, so you should expect fewer convenience and safety features than the higher trims.
• EX AWD: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds AWD and sits in the middle of the range without jumping all the way to the Touring’s higher price. If you want a more complete everyday package without paying for the top trim, this is the one to focus on.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with navigation, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the fullest safety feature set described in the expert notes. It suits you best if you want the most content and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is strongest on the Touring test vehicle, which had all available safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some patience and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 22.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,713 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $14,714 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,437 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the market has become a little more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean, well maintained, and well equipped. Even so, the CR-V’s broad appeal and reputation for practicality help support demand over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2015 Honda CR-V earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and four-star ratings in rollover resistance and front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, with five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology for the right side of the vehicle, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. SmartVent airbags are also included, and HondaLink can provide automatic collision notification if you opt in.

One caveat is that LaneWatch is described as complicated and counter-intuitive, and the lane-departure warning system is considered intrusive. If you are shopping used, it is worth checking that the safety systems work properly and that you are comfortable using them.

Should I buy a 2015 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 22.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model year brings meaningful updates, including a more fuel-efficient engine, revised styling, updated suspension tuning, and added safety technology.

The bottom line: If you want a refined version of an already proven compact SUV, the 2015 CR-V is the stronger pick because it blends practicality, efficiency, and a well-earned reputation for reliability. If your priority is simply finding the lowest entry price, a nearby model year may still be worth comparing, but the 2015’s updates make it the more compelling all-round choice.
