CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Toyota Sienna
Summary
With 85 currently listed for sale and an average price of $15,949 CAD, 35.3% of 2014 Toyota Sienna listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Sienna 4.7 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Sienna stands out as a practical, family-focused minivan with a strong reputation for space and versatility. In the third generation, it offered a roomy interior with three rows of seating, and the second-row seats could slide and recline. With the third row folded down, it could carry full-size sheets of plywood, go-karts, or furniture, which speaks to how useful it is for buyers who need real cargo flexibility as well as passenger room.
For 2014, the key mechanical story is that the base four-cylinder engine had already been dropped in Canada, making the V6 standard for all Siennas. That left buyers with the smoother and more powerful 3.5-litre V6, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Toyota also added direct fuel injection to the V6 for the 2017 model year, but that change does not apply to the 2014 model year. As a result, the 2014 Sienna is best understood as a well-equipped, V6-only minivan that prioritises easy driving and everyday usefulness over excitement.
It is not without drawbacks. The source notes that power sliding doors can cause major headaches and that repairs can be expensive, and it also says the front struts and front strut mounts wear out often. Even so, the Sienna’s combination of space, comfort, and family-friendly practicality makes it appealing to shoppers who want a dependable minivan with a versatile cabin and strong utility.

Have owned two AWD Toyota Sienna’s and looking for our 3rd. Great vehicles. More expensive than other minivans, but you get what you pay for.

This minivan checks in most of the features a family can look for, it is roomy, has the most second row seats in class, huge cargo space even with the 3rd row seat up, the engine has enough power to haul the whole family, cargo and even tow 3500 lbs, it looks good outside, and the engine and transmission are pretty reliable mainly because of it’s timing chain design, pretty much bulletproof with adequate maintenance, the only drawbacks are it’s 2nd row seats not being stowaway ones, you will have to remove them to make more space if needed but that’s if you need a ton of space for cargo, they are also heavy and not that easy to remove. The other drawback is the interior front console materials, too much plastic which also looks cheap but surprisingly it takes the use and abuse a family can throw at it. The 2018 and up models have better materials but again, it’s matter of looks. I rather pick the Sienna over the Odyssey because of the Honda’s timing belt engine design, you have to do a major work every 75k miles which is gonna set you some $1500 back, not the Sienna, the Odyssey has a visually better front console, seats and overal interior craftsmanship, looks fancier but ultimately I believe the Sienna will go the distance with more authority, also remember the Sienna has more horse power and that’s also a plus when driving a heavy vehicle full of family people and cargo, thats why I rather chose the Sienna. There are other options like the Dodge Grand Caravan which has stowaway 2nd row seats, and a beefy engine but reliability is not on par with Toyota off course about $5k less on price, also consider the Kia Sedona, great alternative, very spacious and great design, this one and the Sienna have available ottoman 2nd row seats, rear entertainment system. All models getting better with the new technology.

| Year-Round High | $18,834 CAD |

There are 89 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — 4.7/5 is a strong user rating for a family-focused minivan. The 2014 Sienna stands out for its roomy interior, three rows of seating, and flexible cabin layout, including second-row seats that slide and recline. If you need a vehicle that can handle passengers and bulky cargo with ease, its practical design makes it especially useful. The market also shows 36.0% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile options to consider.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2014 Sienna’s appeal comes from its practical, family-oriented design and its V6-only setup in Canada, which gives it a smooth and capable feel for everyday use. At the same time, you should pay close attention to power sliding doors and front suspension wear, since those areas can create expensive repair bills on a used example. For long-term ownership, a well-maintained van is the safer bet, especially if service records show those common trouble spots have been addressed.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 89 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.47% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $15,507 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $15,930 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,846 CAD.
That softer pricing trend suggests buyers have more leverage today, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about what the market will bear. If you buy well and keep the van in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. Demand should remain supported by the Sienna’s practical layout and family-friendly usefulness.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.47% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2014 is a sensible choice if you want a practical, V6-powered minivan with strong space and versatility, especially now that prices have eased. If you are more price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a slightly newer example offers a better mix of features and condition for the money.
