Why it stands out
The 2014 Jeep Wrangler stands out because it stays true to the model’s rugged, old-school formula while still offering enough modern convenience to feel usable every day. The Wrangler’s identity is built around its separate body and frame, rigid live axles, fold-flat windshield, removable doors, and heavy-duty four-wheel drive system, and its classic seven-slot grille keeps that heritage front and centre. It is also known for its off-road ability and customisable nature, which are among the clearest reasons buyers are drawn to it.
For this generation, Jeep added meaningful upgrades without losing the Wrangler’s character. The interior is more modern than its appearance suggests, with push-button start standard and an available digital gauge cluster, while the Uconnect infotainment system is used across the range. The Wrangler also offers heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, though those are not standard, and the screen can be had in five-, seven-, or 8.4-inch displays depending on trim. Safety equipment includes standard side-impact airbags, available driver-assist features, and a lower beltline for better visibility, but the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that this generation has a tendency to overturn in the small front overlap crash test and gave it a marginal score for that metric.
There are also some notable limitations to keep in mind. The Wrangler is praised for its off-road chops and removable top and doors, but it is also known for poor ride quality on tarmac, excessive wind noise at highway speeds, and less cargo volume than other SUVs. For buyers who value character, capability, and a distinctly mechanical driving experience over comfort and refinement, that trade-off is often exactly what makes the 2014 Jeep Wrangler appealing.

I am totally impressed with the Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited. It is more than I expected. The vehicle has a very new feeling and seems showroom fresh. The leather is still great smelling and looks new. The Jeep is easy to see out of, despite being a four door. The driving feels strong and stable and the visibility in all directions is easy. The controls are within easy reach and it has a great many cup holders and plug ins for electronics. This was a great purchase. I specifically wanted a Wrangler and I am very pleased. There are no disappointments.

Reviewed a 2014 Jeep Sport 4WD on May 3, 2014
This is the most fun vehicle I've ever driven. It has plenty of power to get around and enough to be fun off-road, but it is by no means fast. It takes a while to unzip the windows and put the top down, but it gets easier and quicker the more you do it. It brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. Off-roading with a 2" lift and 35" Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, it was able to conquer most obstacles with ease. Modifications so far include Superlift 2" spacer lift, JKS adjustable track bars, Magnaflow exhaust, 315/75-16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, 16" Level8 wheels, Body Armor 4x4 side bars, Rugged Ridge tail lamp guards, and carpet removed and floor sprayed with truck bed liner.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Yes — the 4.62/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its fun, capable character, especially off-road, along with its ruggedness, power, and versatile driving experience. For you, that makes the Wrangler a strong fit if you want a vehicle with genuine adventure appeal rather than a soft, commuter-first SUV. With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of value-oriented inventory to consider.
Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights a vehicle that feels rugged, dependable, and well suited to owners who want something they can count on for off-road use and everyday versatility. The same feedback also suggests that its strengths are tied more to durability and character than to luxury or refinement. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a vehicle built for capability may ask more of you in comfort and upkeep than a typical SUV.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 133 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.47% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $17,751 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $17,776 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,226 CAD.
That kind of softening can matter if you're planning to sell later, because it suggests the market has eased a bit from where it was a year ago. If prices continue to drift, future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. Even so, the Wrangler's strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually list it.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.47% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2014 if you want the Wrangler's classic character, strong owner approval, and a market that still offers some value opportunities. If you're especially price-sensitive, it also makes sense to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge alone.
