Used 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium for Sale near Quebec, QC
4.7 Overall rating
(3 reviews)Pretty good car for the moola. Every mechanic north of Massachusetts knows how to work on these cars. To say they are ubiquitous is an understatement. If you don't mind driving the same car as 1/2 the people in NH & VT, this might the car for you. Driven by Republicans and Democrats alike - one thing they can agree on.
The expert reviewer of the 2010 model called the 2.5 engine and CVT engine terrible. Did he even drive the car? I am getting 31 MPG on the highway and the 2.5 engine has plenty of power for 95% of driving situations. The CVT does not operate like a traditional transmission. It feels like the acceleration is slower than it really is. The speedometer doesn't lie though. The 2.5 engine has been around for years. It isn't uncharted territory for Subaru. The engine is smoother and more refined than any other 4 cylinder I have owned. Sure you can get an Outback with the 3.6 engine if you can live with the additional fuel cost. The new re-design is head and shoulders above the older Outbacks. More rear legroom, better ground clearance, better styling while still retaining some of the quirkiness that Subaru is famous for. The handling and ride quality is great for this class of vehicle.
So far it's exceeded my expectations. Gas mileage has been exceptional for such a good size SUV (it's as good or a little better than my 2005 Honda Accord 4 cylinder). The CVT has been great so far. The Outback is very quiet and very comfortable for long trips (trip to Ottawa in 12 hours was not a problem). Handling is again better than I expected for an SUV...it's actually great for any vehicle (it's as stable as my Honda Accord was unless I really push it which is still within 90% of what the Accord could do).
