2007 Ford Escape test drive
overall

The long-running Ford Escape remains competitive in a hotly contested segment that has grown considerably in recent years.
The Ford Escape was developed in partnership with Mazda (on a model known as the Tribute), which has given it a more athletic and livelier feel than it might have had with Ford’s touches alone. It’s one of the most fun and easiest-to-drive small SUVs on the market; its car-like ride quality and handling will appeal to buyers wanting more comfort from their utility vehicle.
The Escape, now six years into its current generation, is getting close to needing a major overhaul. As a result, Ford has only made minor changes to the 2007 model, which include an XLT Appearance Package and a shift in colours and options for the XLT and Limited trims.
The Ford Escape competes with the Kia Sportage, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-7, and Toyota RAV4. It is targeted at car buyers that want a comfortable, car-like ride with the space and capability of a sport-utility.

I think the ford escape is one the of nicest sport utility vehicles in its category. I have owned for just over a year and have had no major issues with it. It is excellet on the highway and the fuel mileage is great.

Has no power whatsoever. Gets decent mileage. Seems high enough quality. Interior is well laid out and at least somewhat tolerable in aesthetics. Has had no problems to date. Good visibility. Larger inside than just about every other compact suv we looked at.

The luxury model is gorgeous. Leather, heated seats, sunroof, sweet stereo, hauls all kinds of stuff. Great truck

Though not a full size SUV, the Escape has a lot of room. This car fills all of our needs quite well. The 4 cylinder engine is quite adequate, even on the hills of Pennsylvania. It handles well and brakes quite well. It has not needed any major repairs, I wish I had waited 1 year to buy though as the desogn changed in 2008. More interior room in the '08. Gas milage and mainenance is respectable. It is fun to drive especially in the Winter snow!
