Our Ford Escape has been a good family car. The six cyl. engine has plenty of power and gets pretty good gas mileage. Main complaint has been that when something does go wrong, it's very expensive to fix. Luckily that doesn't happen often.

the 2005 escape is a great car. it goes a long way on a little bit of gas, has plenty of room for a family of 4 with luggage and the car handles great. if you are looking for a low cost alternative to a rav 4 or highlander, then look no further. the escape fills the bill and then some.

the Escape has car-like unibody construction with fully independent suspension and comes as a front- or four-wheel drive. The drivetrain choices include transversely-mounted 4-cylinder or V6 engine and 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. ABS is optional (standard from 2006). The Escape has disk brakes in front and drums in the back (all four disk brakes are available on late V6 4WD models).

Overall good car. Would have been better to get a V6 but the I4 is good enough. Good gas mileage for an SUV. Great interior features with all the options. Well designed and very pleasing to the eyes on the inside. Needs a little bit better leg room for the driver.
