996 has great performance and handling. The build quality is high which is the cornerstone of Porsche cars generally. I think the styling of the 996 is beautiful and was unduly criticised. Cost of ownership - economical. It's a fun car!

The seats grip you to make sure that you don't go flying out of the car as you happily ignore those "recomeded curve speed" signs and just choose to drive at a speed you feel the car will like (usually at least 1.5 times the speed limit) You forget about the speedometer, because all you need to judge if you're going the "right" speed (again, at least 1.5 times the speed limit) by the sound of the engine.

Fun and powerful. Gas mileage, cargo space and backseats are the only negatives, but remember this car is not made for its luxury features. Nothing like going on the open road and hitting the gas pedal.The best part about this car is you get respect wherever you go. For example, valet will always park this car in front of the club, hotel, etc...DEFINITELY A HEAD TURNER.

Such a cool car to drive on NZ roads. it's even cool to wash it! Build not too bad with excellent mechanics but interior and trip switches not that hot. Would like to own a 997 at a later date.

always wanted one and finally got her 3 years ago. Love the car, but since I got my S4, I don't drive her as much as i would like to. Maybe I'll upgrade to a turbo one day. the engine is pretty solid and I haven't had any major issues with it.
