This is the second gen6 Celica I've owned, the first being a 1.8 ST, now I've gone up to the 2ltr Gt. Both cars a fantastic, mechanically they are solid! The ST I hit a fully grown deer at 50mph, & it cracked the number plate & split the weathershild underneath, that was it! The GT obviously has better acceleration, it's very quick off the mark, with the rev range going up to 9000rpm, you really get a chance to push it to it's fully potential (redlines at 7500rpm so I don't like to push it further than that!). They do stick to the road like glue, the braking isn't great, however I do need to replace the brakes so time will tell. As already said, these cars are solid, built to last. Some parts aren't cheap, being Japanese, but they aren't as expensive as Mercedes/BMW for instance. If well looked after, these can run for 250/300k miles! The styling of the gen6 Celica is still as good as any current car in my eyes. I think if you don't have to worry about size & space, coupe is the best style of car you can get, similar to the Jaguar XK series, or Hyundai Coupe, they all look fantastic. The Celica still has 2 back seats that can take adults (maybe not for long distances though!) And the boot could probably fit 3 or 4 dead bodies (sorry, it's how i gauge boot size!). Tax isn't bad for the UK as it's pre-2001, so it costs the same as anything over a 1600cc engine. You're looking at around 32mpg so not bad at all for the engine size/power, it runs at about 160bhp, and it's now 16years old with 136k on the clock!

The ST is slightly underpowered compared to the GT, but apart from that its an excellent reliable car, good handling and great styling

I gotta say I seriously like my 98' Celica. It handles very well, gets great gas milage and has nice lines (at least for me better than the last model Celicas imported into the US). The only drawback I have is that it is an automatic, but when ever I'm in ATL traffic it becomes a good thing.
