Car is in great shape for its age and had been well kept. I don't think the price fits the year. It's a bit expensive for the condition

Although this pic is not my car (mine was Indian Turquoise), my Bug (not Beetle folks!) was the best car I've ever owned. They are good on gas, easy to maintain, and cheap to fix.

The '64 Volkswagen Beetle is not for the person who wants to scream down the hiway, darting through traffic, leaving weaker, less-expensive cars in the dust. The old VW bug is more for the Zen-Taoist driver who likes to feel at one with the car, peacefully enjoying the countryside, winding along a river road to the sound of the perfectly tuned sewing machine engine. If you appreciate old-world craftsmanship, and realize that the journey IS the destination, this wonderful car may be for you. Fun to drive? Oh, yeah.

The old VW would go ANYWHERE I wanted it to including down creek beds when I wanted to get away from someone. It ran on the smell of an oily rag and was great fun to drive. It's performance was that of any 1200cc VW motor - poor, but hey - what the heck. Braking was okay but not outstanding and handling, well lets not go there :-) It's build quality was pretty good overall and no rust whatsoever which is more than could be said for many other makes of that vintage. As a first car for a guy who was an 3rd year apprentice motor mechanic at the time it was an okay car that kept running and was cheap to run - what more could you ask. It was last of the 1200 motors as the 65 commenced the 1300cc motors which were a lovely motor. I would love to lay my hands on a nice 65 1300cc VW Deluxe beetle these days. One VW Beetle to stay away from is the 1962 Beetle - it was a nightmare both for the Rust it was endowed with plus a shocking motor. It had different valve clearances to the rest and always ended up with burnt out valves - not a nice look!
