(38 reviews)I bought my 64 1/2 Mustang in 1968, when I was a high school senior, just before I graduated. I paid $1000 and bought it from the dealer who sold it originally to the only owner before me. I know it was a 64 1/2; it was untouched when I got it, and in fantastic shape. In addition to what you see on 'expert' sites, my 'stang had a at least three things you never see mentioned: No back up lights, 4 bolt wheels (I couldn't buy mags for that reason, nobody made them to fit back then), and my favorite proof: When you popped the ring that said 'Ford Mustang' off the center of the horn ring, it said 'Falcon Sprint' on the chrome hub. The 101 hp, 170 cu in engine had no power and wasn't all that good on gasoline - 18 mpg was typical - but who cared? I will never forget the sound of static from thunderstorms on the AM radio when I was on a date. I kept the car for three years, until the engine blew up and I sold it to my brother. I would give worlds to have kept it. over the past 40 plus years, I have had many dreams about the car, usually that I found it in the weeds in the lot behind my parent's house, rolled it out, and got it running. I was sitting in the office this morning and the Beach Boys' 'I Get Around' came on the radio. If ever there was a song made for my Mustang, that was it, Suddently, I was 18, shifting the three-speed transmission, and headed out on a Saturday night.
My grand mother and my late grandfather left this car to me. I learned to drive in this car. All original, true to form of my grandfathers style. Extremely fun to drive, its a head turner Pleasure to own and continue the history of it
If you have never experienced driving in an early Mustang convertible you haven't lived. This car is all that and more. Irreplaceable conversational piece of the ages. Swift, sexy and sure of herself this car oozes with confidence like no car prior, and no car since. Have you ridden a Mustang lately?
This was my very first vehicle when I was in high school. I purchased this 1964 1/2 Mustang from a friend of my dad's and restored it to about 90% original. The car had about 5 paint jobs on it and I sanded the entire car down to bare metal then re-painted it metallic blue. This, unfortunately, was not a muscle car since it had an inline 6 cylinder 250ci engine in it.
I love my car. Mustang has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned and still own. The performance of these cars are amazing and having the yearly models is the funnest to drive. It is a classic of the American Muscle cars and I will never own anything other than Ford and Mustangs.
