2004 vue 3.5l alternator voltage and starting issue

Asked by GuruVCYJR Aug 19, 2018 at 01:42 PM about the 2004 Saturn VUE V6 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2004 vue 3.5l alternator voltage around 12.5v when hot. Turn off vehicle and then try to start and the starter solenoid just rapid clicks and batter voltage around 12v.  If the vehicle sits for a couple hours then it will start fine. Appreciate any ideas?  Do you think it may be the alternator?  The starter is new.

You could also check your starter and make sure they are not lose also can clean them up with a wire brush so any corrosion build up dosent keep you from haveing a good connection.
