Front driver side hub replacement

Asked by Tiida_1377 Feb 22, 2017 at 11:09 PM about the 2004 Saturn VUE V6 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced my driver side front wheel bearing
hub assembly. This is a 2004 saturn vue awd 6
cylinder. I removed the wheel, removed the caliper,
removed the rotor, removed the axle nut, unbolt ed
the hub and after a lot of grunt work and pb blaster
I was able to get the old hub off. I put the new hub
back on, buttoned everything back up and went for
a test drive. Before I even got out of my driveway I
could tell something was wrong. Their was a loud
grinding and it seemed as if the axle was not
engaging properly. I immediately pulled the car
back in the garage. What did I do wrong,  how bad
did I screw this up? Please help!

I would pull it back apart to see where the issue is may need to reseat the axle, give it a good push and turn back and forth, just make sure its all together correctly. Was something grinding before hub replacement if so did you inspect the spindle surface that the bearing rides on and it may need a little grease on it. Backing plate touching somewhere, calipar mounted correct.
