Saturn Ion replaced timing chain, maintenance going forward

My sister's Saturn Ion just had the timing chain go at 96,000 miles. Was
surprised by this but researched and found out this is pretty common. The
place that installed the new chain has recommended flushing with a sludge
cleaner at each oil change as well as switching to full synthetic oil from now
on. Does this sound right?

Thanks for your input. That's what I thought but I have no experience with Saturn's or any other GM vehicles with this engine. I was shocked when she told me what the problem turned out to be. I thought it was great that it had a chain instead of a belt. Live and learn
