Lexus 2002 ES 300 RED Oil Light ON and then Engine Light ON

I have a 2002 es 300 lexus with 157K miles. While driving RED oil light on,
engine light on and stops suddenly. Engine doesn't start at all. took to Service
center told needs new engine. tried to start it--dead-- should I replace engine?
--- please advise

If the red oil light was on and you were still driving it, then yes, I would say the motor is definetly destroyed. Also, if the red oil light suddenly came on and then the motor stopped then again yes, I would say the motor is destroyed. A used motor installed should cost you $2500 to $4000 depending on the mileage of the motor you are replacing it with and the mechanic you get to install it. If the car is in great shape, then I would invest the money, but if it has seen better days, then I would just invest the $2500 to $4000 in a different car.
