Tranny leak?

Asked by Kellew Mar 18, 2018 at 07:38 PM about the 1995 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 Ford explorer XLT with automatic
transmission, it is equipped with 4 WD. I am
having trouble with the reverse, checked
fluid thinking it is low, finding out it is very
over full. Will the over filled tranny cause my
reverse not to work right and it slips in drive
after driving it  for about 20 min, it has a
rebuilt tranny that is less than six months
old.

Is possible, transmission fluid should be up to the maximum capacity stated by the manufacturer. I would drain all the extra fluid to see if that is the problem. Also, the rebuilt transmission can be having internal problems.
