power seat only goes forward how to make it go backwards

have car seat only goes front  and not back can i move it back without getting a new motor

Short answer, no. Not without removing the seat from the vehicle. It is not hard, four bolts and an electrical connection or two. Remove the seat (five minutes) Remove the motor. Hook up the motor to the electrical connection and test back and forward. If it still does not run in one direction replace the motor.
