Well not going to first or second gear every other year works

I was sitting at the light and it just would
not go in 1st or 2nd gear. This is my first
time working on a gear shifter I've worked
on Jeeps but I don't know anything about
Volkswagen Jettas Can somebody please
help guide me I don't have any money and I
don't have any help so guide me as best as
you can how do I fix my car I have it sitting
in a Store parking lot right now. I
