Heater hose.

Asked by Philpowell Feb 07, 2018 at 01:28 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can the heater hose on my 99 Firebird catch on fire. Took $400 to replace
because mechanic said it could catch engine on fire. Is this legit?

The Hose running from the engine to the firewall to go to the heater core. I have never heard this ever. Heck anything can burn if a flame is on it. A heater hose is like less than $6 buck and anyone with a brain can replace one in 2 minutes. A air/fuel Pre-Heater Hose is less than $10. Same deal, easy peasey.

Walk away from that "mechanic". He hosed you on this one and he will do the same thing to the next customer. Shame.
