2000 Pontiac firebird (3.8) won't drive properly

Asked by Noah Mar 06, 2017 at 10:53 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The guy I bought it from bought it from another guy
who parked it for working overseas for 7 months,
when he got back he sold it to the guy I bought it
from. He tried to start it and two feul injectors
stayed open and flooded the oil with gas. Since
then I've replaced the crank shaft position sensor,
the camshaft sensor, feul injectors, all 3 coils, the
throttle body, a part to the EVAP system and the
feul pump. It starts when you either flood it or give
it a lot of gas (really depends on how the car feels)
but it keeps stalling out. I did a fulll oil change I've
also replaced the battery. Sometimes it'll start and
run for a minute but the RPM wont stay high
enough to keep running so it stalls out. Sometimes
it takes a few cranks to start. Anyone know what is
going on?

change the fuel filter first to see if there is any change... cheapest & basic fix first.

Today I've replaced the spark plugs and tightened down the sensors a bit more. It works a little better and it'll idle longer after it has been warmed up. The spark plug wires looked brand new. Someone told the that the mass airflow sensor shod be replaced on the throttle body. Does anyone agree?
