Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello. I just bought the above mentioned from a friend. It has 186.821 on her. She passsed our Canadian Emissions test with flying colors, as well as passed the vehical certification. I'm going to replace the timing belt given the mileage and change the tranny fluid and filter to be on the safe side. I've searched around the NET for any recalls this care might have, but no real issues popped up. I have read complaints about the transmission failing, or the head gasket going though. This is why I want to do an overall maintenace on her before something happens that could have been missed or neglected.

Any input regarding this would be much appreiciated. For what it's worth, I'm an old 4th year Appr. GM's were my speciality and this is my first Ford.

Merry Christmas!!

These are decent cars. My in-laws had one that, even with awful abuse (no oil changes, etc.) still lasted until they couldn't afford to replace the oil pan (when a hole rusted in it.) If you need a Haynes manual for it, let me know. Some engines were better than others. The 3.8 was the junker, if I recall. The 3.0 and the 4-cylinder were pretty decent.
