2001 Pontiac Firebird intermittently reduces RPMs at speeds above 40 MPH.

This has happened several times now in the last week. Cruising on highway
on a level road in 5th gear. When it starts to happen the engine won't respond
to increased throttle. Car slows and recovers at about 40 MPH still in 5th. I've
stopped and started again and it did not reoccur and I've also had it reoccur.
It seems to be fuel oriented. I've changed the gas without effect. Please help.

Replace fuel filter and if still does it, check fuel pressure

Might also be your throttle position sensor?
