My 2001 Bonneville SLE is sporadically acting up. Suddenly the RPM's race/plummet and then it rides very rough & choppy. It seems like the transmission isn't shifting prroperly at that point.

you must get the diagnostics....fifteen dollar scanner...please post the results from this....granted the fuel pressure regulator will not issue a CODE and could be at fault...you must check the operation of this device and the vacuum goin' to it...make sure that it is still regulating the fuel to the fuel rail~

There are no codes, had that checked. Where exactly is the fuel pressure regulator and how do you check the operation of it?
