Rear ball joint replacement

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am replacing my wife's rear ball joints on her
1996 ford Taurus gl wagon. Now I've never had this
much trouble replacing ball joint but its as if these
have been welded in. I'm sure they are the original
parts and was not taken care of by the last owner
but I have done everything from beating it with a
sledge hammer to using the ball joint press and
still neither of them have moved. Could someone
help me out here?

If you do use heat use the yellow bottle of propane burns much hotter then the blue bottle.
