Check engine light was on and went out on its own?

Check engine blinked intermittently for a few moments, then went out  The
check engine light had been on for some time due to exhaust immersion pump
fail.  Why would the light now be out.

Intermittent connection and operation. The code still exists as does the problem.

The light bulb could have burned out. But as mentioned above the code is still in the computer. Jim
