I have a 1996 Ford Explorer for the 4.0 liter 2
wheel drive automatic what would be
causing the transmission not to go into drive
I was going to town one day stopped at a
stop sign went to take off and wouldn't
move but it still has reverse could it be a
sensor or could there be a loose wire I don't
know

Could be a band or servo inside the transmission. If fluid level is correct and only reverse gear, that would be my bet.
