car starts but doesn't move when shifted in any gear

had o/d button off was driving when i accelerated and meant to press o/d
button off instead hit shift lever and went into neutral ,engine wound up and
car quit moving while car is still running

You've answered your own question, you put it into neutral... Car won't drive if it's in neutral..
