2020 Tundra 31K Miles, Wont Start When Really Hot! Whats the issue?

Asked by ElPadre17 May 02, 2023 at 05:28 PM about the 2020 Toyota Tundra Platinum CrewMax 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was driving through Arizona, about 100 degrees. Stopped at a rest area and
when attempting to leave it would crank but not start. Plenty of spark but
seemed like no fuel. After about an hour and
a half it started and ran fine. Anyone have similar issues or any ideas to fix?

Sounds like a vapor lock, it might have cleared up if you would have cycled the key on off and waited about 3 minutes then cycled it again and wait another 3 minutes then crank it over and see if it starts. You can wrap the fuel lines with reflective insulation tape that might help.

Not a vapor Lock! If you read the threads there are a ton of people with the exact same problem. The story is always the same. Toyota does not want to get involved because of a possible recall on thousands of trucks. It is a design problem. With no one answer for a fix.
