97 Thunderbird burns oil and bogs down

Asked by BrideauB Jun 01, 2019 at 04:42 PM about the 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 Thunderbird 4.6l V8
I was driving it home, going up a hill, and it bogged
down. I tried pumping the gas and holding down
the accelerator with no results. Pulled over, turned
it off and back on, which seemed to fix the
problem. About 25 minutes later, still driving, it
bogs back down. None of the hoses feel bad, it
starts just fine and idles roughly but doesn't
overheat or die. There is a squeaking in the back
passenger corner under the hood. Everything under
the hood is coated with a layer of oil, not sure
where that has come from. But I refilled the oil and
checked the fuel injectors and PCV valve.

oil blowing all over the engine bay isn't good , I'd start with that , then maybe it'll run
