2000 Maxima 6cly 186,000. Starts, drive for 5 mins, then turn off the car and then it won't start again for an hour -as if it needs time to cool down (especially on a hot day)...but if I rev the engine before I turn the key off it starts back up every time.

Sounds like you have to force fuel through a partially clogged fuel filter. When you just turn car off the fuel has to force its way past partially clogged filter but when you rev the engine before turning off fuel stays in line to start again past clogged filter.
