When I stop at a stop light or stop sign, I give it gas to start moving I feel a vibration. I brought it back to the dealer, they told me that it was the car going from electric motor to gas motor. Is this true?

yes, the transition is not as "soft" as they have the world believe. My brother works for a large Toyota dealer here, and they have had a lot of complaints, also keep all records that you get, My bro had a guy last week come in with a broken motor mount, Toyota said the guy was driving it to hard, and now they a bickering back and forth, if you take it in, get a work order showing that you are complaing about the viberation. so if something happens in the future, you have proof that you are "concered" about it. It's not "normal" if it is something new you have just noticed. IF you just bought it used, then yes it is normal to have some sort of vibration as it transitions from electric motors from dead start at a light or stop sign. As you accelerate the gas engine will start back up and as it does this you will notice a normal vibration. This is how most hybrid cars work. The electric motors run at lower speeds of up to 30 MPH assuming your are not punching it to the floor at take off from a dead stop. This is how you get more MPG because you are not running the gas engine while you stop at traffice lights or stop signs or cruising at around 10-25 MPH in the city as you drive in the traffic bumper to bumper. As the hybrid batteries drain over time your gas engine will start back up to keep the batteries charged.
