My daughter has a 97 Ford Taurus GL and she notice that some of the lights on her dashboard went out

You have to remove the instrument cluster to get to those lights. Can be done with basic tools and a little patience. http://www.taurusclub.com/forum/ will have some guides on that job for most years.
